The Abercrombie & Fitch Library was issued en masse in 1967, comprising 42 reprints of sporting books. The connection to the venerable upscale clothing company helped promote the series: “The publishing venture … began in March of 1966, when Abercrombie’s hired Charles A. Pearce to look into the possibility of making facsimile editions of old out-of-print sporting books. ‘I had the best job in the world,’ Pearce said. ‘I sat in the library of the Racquet Club and read all those books that everyone thinks he would like to read and never has time to'” (credit: Series of Series)
